Ephemeris Studies
Cygnus supports six types of ephemeris studies, organized into two groups: standard ephemeris studies and aspect ephemeris studies.
Standard Ephemeris Studies
Standard ephemeris studies generate tables of planetary positions at regular time intervals.
- Geocentric Ephemeris -- Planetary positions as seen from Earth's center, the most common perspective used in astrology
- Topocentric Ephemeris -- Planetary positions as seen from a specific location on Earth's surface, accounting for parallax effects
- Heliocentric Ephemeris -- Planetary positions as seen from the Sun's center, showing true orbital positions
Aspect Ephemeris Studies
Aspect ephemeris studies extend standard ephemerides by including angular relationships (aspects) between pairs of celestial bodies.
- Geocentric Aspect Ephemeris -- Earth-centered positions with angular separations between body pairs
- Topocentric Aspect Ephemeris -- Location-specific positions with angular relationships between body pairs
- Heliocentric Aspect Ephemeris -- Sun-centered positions with angular relationships between body pairs
Creating a Study
Each study type can be created from the toolbar buttons or the Ephemerides menu. Once created, a study appears in the studies list on the left side of the window, ready for configuration.
Standard vs. Aspect Studies
Standard studies have a single Bodies list and Metrics list side by side. Aspect studies use a tabbed interface with an Inner & Outer Bodies tab containing two body lists, and a Body & Aspect Metrics tab with body metrics and aspect metrics. See Geocentric Aspect Ephemeris for details on the tabbed configuration.
